Sanding to make it shine (brushed steel look)

This tutorial is a wee bit simple...

WARNING! This is dirty, so don't do it over wight furniture or nice pants, they will get covered in a fine grey dust.


As you can see, my steel has some water damage...

Take some Sand Paper, doesn't matter what kind (though a finer git will give you better results), and start sanding! Try to keep all your movement back and forth, not in circles so that the "grain" in the steel left behind from the sanding will be in one direction.

Optionally, you can start will a high grit and work you way progressively down in grit sizes to get a better finish.
